City of Fountains

Granite Lamp base with a turned Maple Burl shade.

This concept involves a lamp base comprised of four trapezoidal granite panels leaning slightly outward from a square bottom base to a larger square top base. The shade will be made of a handcrafted walnut bowl with sawn perforations allowing for light to escape, resembling an iconic Kansas City fountain.

11/17/23: Panels have been cut to size, and I’m yet to bevel the edges to create the outward “lean” effect. Still unsure whether to use candles or a lightbulb. Plan is to adhere the granite with high strength silicon. This piece will be heavy, around 60 lbs.
